There have been some posts on other pages about a vendor selling separatist items at the market yesterday. This vendor’s application did not indicate that their items included separatist paraphernalia. Had I known this in advance I would never have allowed them to attend as we do not permit any political or religious groups or businesses for the purpose of advertising. I apologize for this error. Please do not let this incident affect your future enjoyment of the market. This is a non partisan event. ... See MoreSee Less

Thank you for your commitments to the market bylaws and boundaries. Politics does not belong at the market.

I disagree. That person had every right to be there and sell those items.

I believe the items being sold did not belong to a "political organization"? If you are claiming that, what organization are you referring to?

It’s a persons right to buy any product or walk by.

Just love our free country.

If it was pride flags it probably would go unnoticed 🫩

Meanwhile, there’s a table there advertising transitioning

Oh boy, might want to think that decision over. So a person did not want them there, disagrees with the message. What a flake.

In Alberta, an “Alberta Approved Farmers’ Market” designation is a specific provincial status, it is not just a marketing term. An Alberta Approved farmers’ market is different from a public market, artisan market, flea market, or special event because it must meet provincial criteria focused on Alberta-made, producer-based commerce and food safety. Key differences: Alberta Approved Farmers’ Market must: Be officially recognized by the Alberta government and meets the requirements of the Program Guidelines. Be officially recognized by Alberta Health Services/public health inspectors Supported by Alberta Farmers Market Association - AFMA Operate under an approved market manager Follow specific food handling and vendor rules Prioritize “make it, bake it, grow it” style vendors Maintain a high percentage of Alberta-produced products Have rules around resale/imported goods Carry specific insurance and governance requirements Keep vendor records and compliance documentation Support direct-to-consumer sales from producers One of the biggest misconceptions in Alberta is that any market can call itself a “farmers market.” Technically they can use the generic wording conversationally, but “Alberta Approved Farmers’ Market” is a recognized provincial designation with standards behind it. That distinction matters for: vendor eligibility, food regulations, customer expectations, and preserving authentic local producer markets. A simple way to explain it publicly: “An Alberta Approved Farmers’ Market isn’t just an event with vendors — it’s a provincially recognized market focused on Alberta producers, direct sales, food safety, and community economic development.” Why Alberta Protects the Designation? The province treats approved markets differently because they are intended to support: Alberta agriculture Local food systems Small business incubation Rural economic development Direct producer-to-consumer relationships That’s why you’ll often hear: “Look for the Sunnygirl logo.” That logo identifies officially approved Alberta markets.

Thank you for letting us know. After 20 years of weekly buying, I will no longer support the market or the vendors and will let my favourite vendors know why I will no longer be supporting them.

This post from an organization utilizing Town of Sylvan Lake property for its events is hateful, discriminating, misinformation and hypocritical. Selling a product is not advertising. It is called retail. Currently at the market you have people selling: What could be labeled as witch craft. What could be labelled as indigenous faith. What could be labelled as supporting a political and religious colony. What could be labeled as supporting politics of a foreign country. What could be labelled of the Christian faith. What could be labelled as deadly to consume. What could cause harm to others. The personal biggotries and hyprocacies causing harm to others discriminately do not belong on municipal property. Or on a digital public platform. Sylvan Lake is an inclusive community and we ask that your organization respect that. Please review the truth and provide us your reconciliation.

Walk by it if it offends you simple as that 🤣🤦🏻‍♀️

Hypocrites. Misleading advertising

It's so sad what this world has come to

According to Jessica, the signage speaks for itself.

Are dogs on leash welcome?

I walked down but saw the sign that said no dogs so I just stayed on the outside while my mom went in. It would be really cool if dogs were allowed and would likely bring more people in. Think of Canmore... dogs are welcome in every store, indoor and outdoor.
